Russian Furniture Styles - 1825-1840
“Eclectic” is the only word for the general style of this period. The borrowings from every historic style in all shapes and forms are countless. Between 1840 and 1850 Russian cabinet making slowly lost its special character. It became submerged in the new style which spread throughout Europe, a style which aimed at comfort rather than elegance, lavishness rather than refinement.
